A hands-on, practical photography course run around Bristol Harbourside and Clifton — two of the city's most photogenic areas. Designed to help you understand your camera, get out of auto mode, and start taking better photographs.

What You'll Learn

• Understand and adjust camera settings: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO
• Control depth of field — create images with blurred backgrounds or everything in sharp focus
• Expose and focus correctly using various exposure and focus modes
• Simple composition techniques to immediately improve your photos
• Image dynamic range and coping with extremes of light

We'll meet at an agreed location, find potential compositions, and practise the impact of different camera settings in real shooting conditions. I'll be in touch after booking to agree a convenient time and meeting point.

Equipment

All DSLR, mirrorless, compact, or bridge cameras are suitable, providing they allow manual control of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Mobile phones can be used, though only parts of the course will be relevant.
