Ideal for beginner and intermediate photographers, our improve your photography course run in Bristol will help you understand how to use your camera, get out of auto modes and practice approaches to take better photographs.

The tuition will normally take place in and around the Harbourside or Clifton Suspension Bridge. Details are as follows:

Improve your photography – 2 hours.

A hands on, ‘learning by doing’ course aimed to provide you with an appreciation of the skills needed to develop your photography

Course location:  Around Bristol Harbourside/or Clifton

Time:  2 hours during daytime

Cost:  As shown for up to 2 people attending

The course will normally include the following:
..........

Understand and adjust camera settings including aperture, shutter speed and ISO

Learn to control the ‘depth of field’ and shutter speed to create images with blurred backgrounds or images with everything in focus

Learn how to expose and focus your images correctly using the various exposure and focus modes on your camera

Learn simple composition techniques and rules to help improve your photographs

Image dynamic range and coping with extremes of light

We will meet at an agreed location and find potential compositions, discussing and practicing the impact of different camera settings, and how these should be applied in different circumstances.

Equipment needed

All DSLR, mirrorless, compact or bridge cameras are suitable providing they allow manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Mobile phone cameras can be used, but don’t generally allow much control over these settings so only parts of the course will be relevant.

I will be in touch after booking to agree a convenient meeting time and location.
